Weekly Menu Plan Template

Weekly Menu Planning Template

If the first thought you give to ‘what’s for dinner’ each day is as you’re walking in the door after work, you’re less likely to choose healthy options.  You may realize that meat is frozen, you don’t have time to cook long-cooking grains before dashing out the door for soccer practice or an evening meeting, or you’re just too hungry to do anything but reach for a frozen pizza or head to a restaurant.

This handy menu planning template helps you to take the guess work out of your healthy diet.  Prepare a weekly menu plan before going grocery shopping and you will ensure that you know what you’re cooking, when you’re cooking it and that you have the ingredients on hand to make it happen.

Pantry List

Basics Version
Vegetarian/Vegan Version
Having a well stocked pantry, fridge and freezer is the key to successfully cooking healthy meals at home.  When you have a variety of kitchen staples on hand, you can prepare almost any recipe without needing to run to the store for ingredients and when you can prepare a delicious meal easily, you will be less likely to reach for processed foods or take-out.

These pantry lists have been designed as a checklist for ensuring your pantry is well stocked.   It is available in 2 version – the basic version is designed for most homes.  The vegetarian/vegan version has been designed just for those who have given up meat and include specialty items that you’ll need to be successful in your animal-free cooking ventures.  Go through your pantry, fridge and freezer and highlight all of the items that you don’t have.  Once you’ve created that list, consider buying all of these items – or just some of them if you can’t ever see yourself using something.  It doesn’t mean you need to head to the grocery store right now and buy it all, just add one or two items to your weekly shopping list each week to help build a well-stocked pantry over time.

You can also use this as a foundation for your grocery list.  Scan your kitchen to see what items you’ve run out of and highlight them on the sheet.  The list helps you to notice what’s missing without having to remember everything you’ve emptied since the last shopping trip.
