It’s an unfortunate fact that approximately 65% of Americans do not get the recommended daily intake of fruit each day, and nearly 75% don’t get the recommended daily intake of vegetables. The stats aren’t much better for other developed countries either.
A 1-pint serving of green smoothie will give you 3-4 combined servings of fruits and vegetables, meaning you’ll get almost the entire recommended daily minimum intake of fruits and veggies in just one glass!
This basic recipe will make approximately one 1-pint serving of green smoothie. You can safely double the recipe in most standard sized blenders. As you’re getting used to the idea of dark leafy greens in a smoothie, you might want to start with just a few tiny leaves and slowly work your way up to the full recommended 2 cups over time.
